2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition

2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition
Chevrolet unveiled a high-performance vehicle most sports car enthusiasts would go crazy for. GM presented the most powerful Camaro ever build. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 makes its official debut at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show. The ZL1 brings the Camaro line to greater heights with higher performance charged by V-8 engine generating approximately 550 horsepower.
The 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition is powered by LSA 6.2L supercharged engine with maximum output of 550 horsepower (410 kW) and 550 lb.-ft. of torque (677 Nm). Engine is combined with six-speed manual transmission with a dual-disc clutch system. Not only that, this fast baby is equipped with highly improved chassis and suspension systems for maximum sports car performance.
2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition
The central goal of the 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition’s development was creating something new –a Camaro intended to reach optimal lap times on top road-racing circuits and excellent driving dynamics on the street. To achieve that goal, engineers evolved many of the existing Camaro’s systems, as well as incorporated new technologies such as electric power steering and Magnetic Ride Control, the world’s fastest-reacting suspension system.
2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition
Camaro ZL1 is about high-tech performance and design, and is a type of car no one has ever brought to this segment previously,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “It’s the most technically advanced Camaro ever, so we’ve chosen a name from the most elite and exclusive Camaro in history.”
The 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition name is derived from the all-aluminum racing engine of the same name, which was developed in the late 1960s and installed into a handful of regular-production 1969 Camaros. Only 69 were built with the engine, but they’ve achieved mythical status among enthusiasts, as they represented the pinnacle in Camaro performance – until now. The 2012 ZL1 model is designed to be a major leap forward for the Camaro Chevrolet Sports Cars, bringing anew level of performance capability to the segment.
2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition is equipped with a revolutionary new suspension system includes Magnetic Ride Control and electric power steering. The braking system is Brembo with dimensions of 14.6in. (370 mm.) front and 14.4 inches (365 mm.) rear.

All of the Camaro exterior colors will be offered with the ZL1, but black is the only interior color. The unique exterior features are complemented with a black center section on the hood. Inside, the 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition has heated leather seats with microfiber inserts and ZL1 logos embroidered on the front headrests. Microfiber suede is repeated as an accent on the instrument panel, adding a richer look to the interior.
Interior – 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro ZL1 Edition is tailored for high-performance driving. The front seats feature microfiber suede inserts. Other enhancements includea redesigned steering wheel, alloy pedals, Head-Up Display with unique performance readouts and the “four-pack” auxiliary gauge system featuring a boost readout.

Engineers have already driven Camaro ZL1 prototypes extensively at demanding road courses in the U.S. and Germany, with final testing being completed through the balance of 2011. Development ongoing, targeting launch at the beginning of 2012.

2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition

2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition
Chevrolet has announced a new special edition 2012 Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition. The company has created many excellent changes in this new model. The most radical change is the 20 inch aluminum wheels that have the awesome unique graphics on it. Chevrolet Camaro, America's most popular sports car, extends its momentum with enhancements for the 2012 model year. Highlights include an improved version of its standard 3.6L direct injection V-6 engine, a new FE4 performance suspension package for SS coupes and several interior and technology improvements, such as a revised instrument panel design, new steering wheel and rear camera system.
2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition
The enhancements arrive in time for Camaro's 45th birthday, which will be celebrated with this summer's release of the 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition. Continuing the tradition of Camaro anniversary models, the 45th Anniversary Special Edition carries all the upgrades for 2012, with additional unique design elements, inside and out.
2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition
Camaro's new 3.6L direct injection V-6 - the LFX engine - goes into production in the summer of 2011. It delivers an SAE-certified 323 horsepower (241 kW) at 6,800 rpm - an increase of 11 horsepower (8 kW) over the 2011 engine, with no compromise in fuel economy. The LFX delivers the most standard power in the regular sports car segment. It is also 20.5 pounds (9.3 kg) lighter than its predecessor, which promotes a more balanced driving experience. EPA-estimated highway fuel economy for the '12 Camaro is 30 mpg (2LS model).
On the exterior for 2012, a new rear spoiler will be added as a standard feature for Camaro; and the taillamps that had been a part of the RS appearance package option are also being made standard. Additionally, a new, body-color "sharkfin" antenna joins the RS package. Crystal Red Tintcoat replaces Red Jewel as an exterior color.
Launching in the summer of 2011, the 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition commemorates both Camaro's lineage and its 21st-century revival. The anniversary package will be offered on Camaro's top two trim levels (2LT and 2SS) for both coupe and convertible body styles.
The exterior signature of the 2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition is its unique rally stripe, in red and silver, that contrasts the Carbon Flash Metallic paint. In addition, for 2012 GM is also offering an FE4 suspension package for the SS Coupe. The package includes dampers for each corner, 23-mm front sway bar and 24-mm rear sway bar. Plus, 20-inch wheels will also be available for SS owners.

The new FE4 suspension debuts as a performance improvement for the Camaro SS coupe in 2012, focusing on more refined handling. 'Our objective was to create a more precise sport suspension for the SS coupe, with greater road-holding capability,' said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. 'We applied lessons learned from extensive track testing to better refine the suspension geometry for flatter cornering, a more neutral balance during hard turns, and minimized understeer at the limit.'
2012 Chevrolet Sports Cars Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition
More than just new components, the new FE4 performance suspension incorporates learning from the ongoing development of the high-performance Camaro ZL1. In particular, the suspension geometry has been adjusted, including reshaped stabilizer bars that are repositioned outboard of the shock mounts. This results in more effective body control and more precise response in performance driving.

Chevy Launches MyLink Infotainment System in Response to Ford's SYNC

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt and Equinox models will be the first to offer Chevy MyLink, an in-car infotainment equipment that integrates internet radio, hands-free, voice and touch-screen controls, all of which can be accessed via Bluetooth connectivity.

Three years ago, Ford introduced a similar system, called SYNC, whose aim was to reunite in a friendly and efficient way the various in-car controls that a driver can access while driving. Now Chevy is ready with its own technology, developed together with GM's subsidiary OnStar.

MyLink provides drivers with stereo audio streaming, wireless control of smartphones, voice-activated commands and a full-color 7-inch touch screen display that centralizes media sources. For example, the driver can initiate phone calls, select radio stations or stored media only by using his voice.

Other features are Pandora internet radio, which allows users to personalize their radio experience, or Gracenote, which identifies the user's music collection and presents information such as artist name, genres and album cover art on the MyLink screen.

Basically, MyLink does everything that SYNC does, plus the future integration of the Powermat wireless cell-phone charging system that eliminates cords. The MyLink infotainment system will expand to other Chevrolet models in the next 18 months.
